Aquaponics
Our advanced aquaponics system allows us to grow a large variety of lettuces without the use of chemical fertilizers.
Our advanced aquaponics system allows us to grow a large variety of lettuces without the use of chemical fertilizers.

Our Aquaponic system functions solely on fish waste, solar energy, & rain water. Our aquaponic system is a recirculating waste-free system to grow all of our farm fresh lettuces in an efficient & thoughtful way. The benefits of our aquaponic system are:
• Reducing Water Usage
• The use of a natural fertilizer, eliminates the need for harmful chemicals
• Raising fish & lettuce in a symbiotic relationship
• Minimizing land usage

Our beautiful Bees are the hardest workers on our Farm. They are essential for pollination and production of our crops! The bees collect nectar from edible flowers, fruit trees, and native plants. These little chefs produce delicious honey for use in our Market & Bakery.
These pollinators are essential for global food production and we have made it our mission to create a safe home for them at Fat Beet Farm. Bee’s survival depends on a healthy and thriving ecosystem free of pesticides and herbicides. We keep our farm free of any harmful chemicals & lush with native and flowering plants to maximize the vitality of the crucial creatures!

The coop barn is where our chickens and goats call home. Inside, the hens have a “living soil” floor. It has layers of compost, worms, and horse manure that all feed off each other, making it a self-cleaning coop. The resulting soil is full of good bacteria and fungi so the worms have plenty to feast on. In addition to eggs, the other great benefit that the chickens provide us is natural pest control and fertilization.
Our three handsome “goat-scapers”: Tom, Parker, and Wellzie, also call the Coop barn home. They are the natural landscapers of the farm, maintaining our wetlands and other areas by grazing on plants. Each goat has their own big personality and they add spunk to our day-to-day!

Regenerative farming is the name of the game when it comes to growing our high quality produce. In our gardens, we focus on soil health first and foremost. To amend our salty soil, we continuously apply organic matter such as compost, manure, worm casting and our biodigester slurry. In addition to amending our soils, we maintain a no-till method, allowing for those nutrients in our soil to build up over time.
Since we are right on the bay, it is imperative we stick to organic pest-control so there is no risk of harmful chemical run-off into our waterways. Crop pairing and increasing biodiversity is our go-to method for reducing harmful garden pests. This makes our job a little easier by allowing the plants to do what they do best - feeding off of each other and creating the best environment for them to thrive. Our main goal with the garden is to produce the most nutritious and delicious tasting food in a way that works with our environment instead of against it.
Our microgreens are organically grown; we only add solar-powered light and water!

Microgreens are young sprouts of many different vegetables and herbs. Our favorites include Amaranth, Red Rambo Radish, Cilantro, Broccoli, Sunflower Microgreens, Pea Shoots, Tokyo Bekana Cabbage, Beets. We have various mixes that can be used with almost anything, but we can also grow single varieties for more specific flavor needs.
Micros are exceptionally healthy and are grown in 7-10 days. They contain 4-40 times the nutrient value of their full-grown counterparts and are also almost always eaten raw because they are so tender, which allows them to retain even more vitamins and minerals. Bursting with fresh and aromatic flavor, micros add a lovely pop of color to any dish. We recommend using them as a garnish on everything.
